Aira Force & Derwentwater

Aira Force Waterfall

This was the first visit back to the Lake District in over 12 months; due to the UK lockdowns, and it felt great to be back! I’ve visited Derwentwater several times through the years and it’s truly a wonderful place, with so many different compositions and images to look for.

It was my first visit to Aira Force and I was amazed at the number of photographic opportunities, a photographer’s playground if you enjoy waterfalls and long exposures! It’s certainly on the list to revisit as soon as I have the chance and could spend multiple days there photographing all the compositions.

What3words & Parking

Aira Force Car Park – ///bitter.closer.kinder – Parking was free with NT membership, otherwise Pay & Display

Keswick Car Park – ///dream.enveloped.unlisted – Pay & Display

Both car parks were fairly busy when we visited during the daytime, before summer, so I’d advise getting there early however we did manage to get a spot fairly quickly in both areas.
